Using Vizit Over Time
Vizit Over Time helps school leaders track multi-year trends in WY-TOPP performance across ELA, Math, and Science. It creates clear, stacked-bar visualizations showing changes in proficiency over five years, by grade level, with enrollment (N) displayed for context.
1. Prepare/Clean your data file
Use the example file above as your template.
Your file should be in CSV or Excel (.xlsx) format.
Each row should represent one grade × one school year × one subject (no student-level data required).
Your file must include these clearly labeled columns
Important formatting notes
Column headers must be clearly labeled so the visualization titles populate correctly.
Percentages should be numeric (e.g., 45.2), not written as “45%”.
Include all years you want shown—Vizit Over Time will display them in order automatically.
2. Upload and choose your settings
After uploading your cleaned file:
Select a subject (ELA, Math, or Science).
Choose the grade levels you want displayed (e.g., Grades 3–6).
Vizit Over Time automatically groups your data by grade and year and builds:
A stacked bar chart (Basic/Below vs. Proficient/Advanced)
A summary table showing all values numerically
Enrollment N labels above each year’s bar for accurate interpretation
3. Interpret your multi-year visualization
The chart helps answer questions like:
“Is proficiency improving over time?”
“Which grades show the biggest movement year to year?”
“Did changes in N (enrollment) impact fluctuations?”
“Where are consistent strengths or areas needing support?”
Gold (Basic & Below) shows students needing academic support.
Blue (Proficient & Advanced) represents students meeting expectations.
Larger blue segments over time indicate improvement.
N labels help you understand year-to-year variability (small cohorts = large swings).
4. Download and use your results
Download the visualization as a .png file for data meetings, PLCs, or leadership presentations.
Export the summary tables as Excel files for deeper analysis, reporting, or documentation.
